House Number 7 by Denizen Works
Architect Murray Kerr of London-based practice Denizen Works has renovated an old, B-listed cottage bought by his parents on the Isle of Tiree on the west coast of Scotland. The project involved rebuilding the original structure and adding two extensions. The design and shape of the new extensions are based on local agricultural sheds.
The house comprises three parts. A main unit containing living, dining and kitchen spaces with master bedroom sunk into the landscape. The guest house contains two bedrooms, a bathroom and an entertaining room. The utility with laundry facilities and wet room seamlessly links the other two parts of the building.
