Housing project that changes the architectural character of Paris
The French architectural studio “Hamonic + Masson & Associés” is changing the character of the traditional Parisian architecture through a spectacular modern housing project for the 13th district of Paris. The project includes construction of residential towers measuring 50 metres tall, and of office blocks measuring up to 180 metres tall, that abandon the linear and accept the vertical layout of the city. The whole project has a completely different aesthetic from the classic Parisian architecture. The buildings will be united together and will look and function as one.
The buildings are tiered and look as they are constantly growing higher into the sky and have a total of 200 apartments. The apartments are stacked on top of one another, but each has its own strong, unique identity. The terraces spiral upwards, catching the light at every angle, leaving an impression of progressive transformation.
The HOME project will be complete at the beginning of 2015 and will be the first housing operation of 50 metres to be built in Paris since the 1970s.The project, essentially offers a new discussion about the architecture of Paris, and the ability to reconsider the possibility and the potential of height in the City of Light.
