Australian apartment with bold colors and elements
The makeover of the apartment “Chester Street Apartment” in Brisbane, Australia, is the work of designer Alexander Lotersztain, director of the design studio “Derlot”. From first glance, this colorful apartment gives the impression that it’s spacious, but simply decorated and the focus is on a few larger individual pieces, which alone and in combination with the whole space look spectacular. From the owl artwork, the carpets, the pieces of furniture in yellow and black, each element is carefully selected and placed in order to create balance, rhythm and harmony in the home.
The living room is spiced with a strong color palette dominated by black. Black is used for one of the walls, the frames, and the chair which oppose the colorful carpet. The living room is arranged in such a strategic way for the owner in the future to be able to fit a new item or piece of furniture in any color without unsettling the balance and cohesion that exist in space. The black elements do not make the space gloomy, but rather give a dose of elegance and luxury.
Contrary to the dramatic black living room is a white zone combined with a colorful carpet, but with neutral natural tones. The kitchen creates contrasting similar effect as the living room. The combination of white kitchen surfaces with black appliances is refreshed with turquoise wall illuminated by LED lights mounted on top of the three lockers and hanging chandeliers.
Unlike the interior, the terrace is minimal. The single eccentric element is the yellow grill. All this is done in order to simply enjoy the panoramic view. The pure white brick walls are decorated with pots with plants in various sizes, allowing visually enjoyable experience.
