Apple Bay House is a holiday house designed by Parsonson Architects and it sits on a west facing hillside in a bush clad bay in the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand. In architect’s words, “We intended to create a delicate platform amongst trees for life to unfold. The house is in two parts, each with a fine roof that follows the lie of the land. The upstairs living areas are one large space with decks at each end to enjoy both the morning and afternoon sun. Downstairs bedrooms float amongst the trees with windows opening across the tree tops.” The building won NZIA Local Award for Architecture 2010. Check out the pictures.
