Residential building facade with bright, colorful tiles

The modern residential building MAD in Vancouver radiates with warmth, openness and positive energy. The modern building was designed by architectural studio “Marianne Amodio Architecture”, which aimed to create an open building with many spaces for socialization. The housing facility is composed of three family units with a total area of 267 square meters.

The facility is designed to have many open and spacious common areas and independent and separate apartments for the families. The clients wanted a special character of the building, inventive and somewhat eccentric elements both outside and inside. Bearing this in mind, the architects created a simple white facade with different sized windows scattered on the surface, and striking yellow, red and green tiles that accentuate the main entrance of the building.

The mosaic of colorful tiles continues in the interior. One of the colorful mosaics is used as a basic element for the section of the fireplace, while in other areas the tiles are embedded in the concrete floor, a move that breaks the harshness and coldness of the raw concrete. Other spaces are decorated simply, with bright colors and modern pieces of furniture and high-tech elements.
