Frank is a transparent cupboard designed by Karl-Johan Hjerling and Karin Wallenbeck in collaboration with Stockholm-based carpentry Snickeriet. The elegant storage unit is made of maple and plexi glass. The brass fittings compliment the simple and minimalist design. Here is a description from Snickeriet, “FRANK is a cupboard with a transparent exterior. The ambition with the design and production of the piece has been to make the craftsmanship visible and to be totally frank about the construction process. Everything from attachments, material joints and fittings to the movement of the locking bolt is displayed. The casing is made out of Plexi glass, but has been treated as if it was wood. For example, it is jointed by dovetailing, a classic technique often used in wood furniture.”
