Slovakian design studio ALLT has designed Highstack and Lowstack furniture series. The furniture design was inspired by the method of stacking unfinished wood planks in sawmills and warehouses. In designer’s words, “The structure used industrially when stacking unfinished wood planks is to avoid degradation and allow better manipulation. Random profiles and airiness which can be found in the industrial context of sawmills and warehouses is brought closer to show its qualities in more familiar environments. By cutting out spaces an object is created and its function is transformed by adding or removing stacked material.”
