Tel Aviv-based industrial designer Naty Moskovich has created the Movable Presence. It is a collection of flat-pack furniture units which can be assembled in seconds. The wood pieces in each furniture unit are held together with cheap but strong ratchet straps. The bright orange straps contrast with the natural wood finish. The furniture collection includes tables, chairs, bookcases and sofas. According to the designer, “Movable Presence is a study of furniture’s and personal necessities through an examination of the existing collapsible items as trestles through new variations of connectivity by ratchet bands, that raise the question of our foot print. Can we define our foot print not in the present of being rather than at the present of moving? can the collapsed space we carry, can define us?”
