Pile is a collection of furniture made of waste textile pieces. Designed by Shir Atar for Ofertex Furniture, the furniture collection includes Pile Chair, Pile Stool and Pile Pouf. The Pile Chair was on display at the Salone Del Mobile 2011. In designer’s words, “Looking for ways to reuse off-cut textile pieces from the recycling process, this pouf ‘grew’ from the piles of material on the plant floor. Inspired by hay and leaf piles in autumn, a new and versatile process was developed that tells the story of both production and material.
Based on the process developed for the Pile Pouf, the stool and chair also ‘grew’ from the piles of material on the plant floor. Hiding within the pile of material is a metal frame to support the shape for higher sitting.”
