Hotel in Hong Kong transformed into an affordable student housing

With the rising rent problems in many high-density cities in China, LYCS architecture got the idea to design ‘Campus Hong Kong’ – revolutionary apartments for students. Faced with little space and very high living expenses, the designers created more affordable way targeted at young people and students. The project is located in an existing hotel that was renovated to accommodate 48 student apartments in the lower 3 levels of the building.

Each apartment has an area of only 27 square meters, which comfortably and compactly houses four beds. Architects removed all unnecessary partition walls and opened the space in order to gain greater freedom and spaciousness. The four beds are raised and study desks are placed under them to make full use of the space. The apartment is equipped with all necessary elements and spaces to ensure a comfortable student life.
