Principe’s Box House Renovation by u+a arquitectura

Spanish practice u+a arquitectura have renovated a small, 53 square meter apartment for a young couple in Pontevedra, Spain. The small apartment is located in the top floor of an old building of 1910 and was originally divided into five rooms. The renovation of the apartment involved the complete emptying of the interior and removing the false ceiling that covered the original structure of wooden beams and reorganising the space around a wooden cube located at the center of the home.

The wooden cube is made of maple and has the three sides containing front of the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, a small closet, toilets and a shower of 1.60 × 0.90. Other functional areas of the home such as dining, living, bedroom and kitchen areas are organised around the wooden box.
