”Dime was inspired by the emotive and long art-historically studies shape of the circle. It is dynamic piece evoking a spinning coin, but also physically the individual rosewood compound curved segments glide and shuffle to reveal its function. The piece when closed has a poetic repetition of form, softened by the luminous rosewood. As you glide the curved segments from the handles they have a pleasing resistance. The individual shapes interact to create micro-sculptures where the rosewood leaves meet and extend. The playful shape allows the user to hide or reveal the work-top and storage solutions. The works have hidden electricity points to enable the use of electrical appliances, with shelving and curved drawer for storage. The worktops are made of black and gold Italian Portoro marble.” – Splinter Works.
