Architect Jeffery S. Poss has designed a meditation hut in Champaign, Illinois. The meditation hut Victor is located along the north edge of a small retention pond on a forested property. In daytime, the water reflections are projected onto the expansive soffit. The V-shaped roof channels rainwater to a central spout over the pond. A horizontal window frames a meditative fragment of water.
An operable window behind the tea cabinet reflect the sound of a fountain. Finally, the floor of glossy ebonized birch has the sensation of a deep still pool – the glassy tatami mats become an island within an island.
