Amidst the dense Canadian forest lies Vals-de-Monts Cottage, work of Christopher Simmonds Architect. This family house set on a platform for a better enjoyment is in a complete harmony with its surrounding.
The house has an interesting rectangular form placed on hillside site with an amazing relaxing view of the nearby lake. Made of wood, the house has a warm and modern look. For its construction the architects used cedar planks, and for the interiors they used light oak. In contrast, the stairs are made of iron.
The bedroom is located in the basement level, i.e. the rock construction that is cool during summer days. On the upper level are the common areas like the living room, kitchen and dining room for a relaxed view of the natural beauty around the house. The broad and high windows from the floor to the ceiling contribute to this dreamy atmosphere which makes people forget the everyday problems during weekend visits and longer holidays in nature.
