Young architect Natalia Kokosalaki made a complete transformation of an abandoned neoclassical house in Athens into a modern apartment with elegant interior. The house, which until recently was just another abandoned ghost, now has an interior that leaves you breathless.
The designer decided to go against the principles and aesthetics of modernism to separate the appearance of the facade from the aesthetics and style of interior. Looking at the house from the outside, visitors can not even sense what interesting things are hidden inside the neoclassical building.
The urban life in Athens was one of the inspirations of the designer. Every corner of the space reflects familiar elements of the city. In all this there are many contrasts, elegance and toughness, intense light and darkness, finely processed, and harsh, raw materials.
The most striking element in this open apartment is the skateboarding ramp- the famous “half-pipe”, which brings additional entertainment and urban character to the space.
For this fascinating transformation Kokosalaki won the “Best first project for young architect” award from the international jury of the magazine “DOMES.
